N.B. The scrotum is spoken of as the "purse". Investigate implications.
Second soldier comes through deep snow leading Noah by lariat. Soldier, a very young private, eager to talk. Hazard feigns interest while soldier speculates: is shocked that any man should wish to kill another. Can only explain by suggesting cannibalism. Hazard agrees, putting on snowshoes; says killer must be captured and hanged at public hanging, a fine old custom that must be revived. Both soldiers agree.
Five crows, having circled up from Royal Lawn Bowling Club, fly to lantern that surmounts dome of Legislative Building; Hazard points this out to young men as further sign of advent of spring.
Chase begins; on South Side they hit traffic of Saturday shoppers and farmers in city to see horses. Policeman's version: at Whyte Avenue

I have arranged the next three cards so as to suggest an order that was not necessarily present in Hazard's rambling conversation:
amused by distortion of facts he suggests
