before a single one can drop a single colt. His efforts are vain, vain . . . Only the artist . . ." She touched her hands to his hips, to his stiffened knees, his battered thighs. "I must make a model of you," she cried out.

Again Hazard groaned.

"Of you," she insisted.  "In shining wax."

It seems that while semi-conscious Hazard had raved about his horse; P. in her wisdom recognized the qualities of the man.  "Mine is the future," he groaned.

"A model of your head," she insisted, touching his ears, his bruised cheeks.  "Of your mouth, your strong handsome nose . . ."

"In immortal wax," Hazard groaned.

P. gently touched her strong warm hands to his belly.  "Immortal and everlasting," she whispered.  "Consider now--"

If only Hazard had agreed to her not unreasonable request, what a record we would now possess.  But I alone am dedicated to xxxx lonely task
