Harper's Weekly- Advertisements

Title

Harper's Weekly- Advertisements

Description

Harper's Weekly advertises for more than its own brand. The brand names of other products are given equal opportunity to be seen on the page as the ads for Harper's. Harper's weekly is a brand in and of itself without relying on the contents being of the Harper's brand. The texts and the products available in Harper's are marketed under their own "brands" but, Harper's distinguishes their own saleable brand as that of a publisher. While the Moonstone was marketed as being the author's "brand", the publisher's assurance of quality and accuracy reassures the reader that the publisher is measured by the quality of the brands they advertise. This is further illustrated by the captions at the bottom of the advertisements for the newly published book. The book is introduced as being published by Harper's, then the ad talks about the author and the book and closes with a mention of Harper's. The text is the author's but the publisher is Harper's.
