Harper's Weekly Story Transition

Title

Harper's Weekly Story Transition

Description

Like All the Year Round, Harper’s Weekly is shown to favor The Moonstone in its publication, though not as exclusively. Other works in Harper’s are also illustrated and have attention drawn to them, however, similar to the transition between stories in All the Year Round, Harper’s transition between The Moonstone, and its next piece, Goodman Misery, is much less spatially or stylistically significant, as well as also missing the name of its author. It is determined by two thin lines finalizing end of The Moonstone followed by the small, plain, capitalized title of the next piece. Looking at Harper’s Weekly as a commercial product, it can be inferred from this formal evidence that The Moonstone was a marketable inclusion to the publication, making it worth the investment in illustration and precious space on the page.
